Restorative Dentistry

Best dental techniques to improve your smile

The Ultimate Goal to Restore a Strong, Healthy, Beautiful Smile

Restorative dental procedures are most commonly performed to repair teeth that have been damaged due to decay, wear, or fracture. Restorative dentistry also can be used to close gaps between teeth, restore a patient’s chewing function, or replace teeth that have been prematurely lost. The best restorative dental option is determined in collaboration with the dentist and patient and is based upon several individual factors.

Crowns

Crowns, commonly called caps, are often made of a material like porcelain, placed on the top of a tooth. Crowns are used to protect and restore a tooth's function and appearance when a tooth has been significantly weakened due to decay, fracture, or following root canal treatment.

Implants

Dental Implants are made from surgical grade Titanium, and in most cases offer a permanent solution for one or more missing teeth. Titanium is not only used for Dental Implants, it is the material used for many other types of medical devices, such as Knee and Hip replacements. Dental Implants are often the best solution to restore a smile and chewing function, when a tooth is lost prematurely.

Bridges

Bridges are natural-looking dental appliances that replace missing teeth. Because they are custom-made, bridges are barely noticeable and can restore the natural contour of teeth as well as the proper bite relationship between upper and lower teeth. Bridges are permanently cemented to the supporting teeth around the missing tooth and restore chewing function to the area.

Dentures

A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and adjacent tissues. It is made of acrylic resin, sometimes in combination with various metals. Dentures can be either complete – replacing all the teeth - or partial dentures- filling in the spaces created by missing teeth and prevents other teeth from shifting or changing position. In some cases, dental implants may need to be placed to anchor the denture to the jaw bone and provide for a stable chewing function.

Implants

Dental implants are the closest you can get to healthy, natural teeth. They allow you to live the way you want to -confidently eating, smiling, laughing, talking, kissing, and enjoying all of your everyday activities without worrying about your teeth. An implant is designed to replace the root of your missing tooth, in the jaw bone. After a healing period, a permanent tooth replacement is attached to the implant to restore your missing tooth’s natural look and function. When performed by a properly trained and experienced dentist, dental implants are one of the safest, most predictable procedures in dentistry.

Dentures and Bridges

Dentures are prosthetic devices used to replace missing teeth. They are supported by the either the gums and underlying jaw bone or the remaining teeth of the mouth. Conventional dentures are removable. However, there are many denture designs, some which rely on bonding or clasping onto teeth or dental implants. A bridge is a fixed dental restoration used to replace one or more missing teeth by adjoining an artificial tooth to adjacent teeth or dental implants.
